New Zealand singer-songwriter Gin Wigmore will be performing at the El Rey Theatre on May 5 with special guests Dorothy and Mathew Santos. Wigmore is a multi-instrumentalist who has released three albums in the folk rock, blues and jazz style with her latest being album being last year’s “Blood to Bone.” The lead single from the album was “New Rush,” check it out here:
At 16, Gin won the US-based International Songwriting Contest with the acoustic ballad “Hallelujah,” a song she wrote in honor of her father who lost in his fight with cancer. The song was one of the first songs she’d ever written and it made her the competition’s youngest ever winner, beating more than 11,000 songwriters from 77 countries.
