Dresden Dolls Announce First Shows In A Year In New York And Boston

The Dresden Dolls are going to perform two shows in the U.S. for the first time in a year.

The Boston duo consisting of Amanda Palmer, lead vocals and piano, and Brian Viglione, drums and percussion, known as Dresden Dolls are finally putting an end to their near 8 year hiatus to perform together once again. They are only locked in for two show stint but hopefully this will be the start of something a lot more. They are going to be performing at Hills Bank Pavilion in their home town of Boston on August 26 for their first show and then they will play the newly opened Coney Island Boardwalk Amphitheater in New York City on the 27. The same amphitheater that Jane’s Addiction just announced as part of their new tour that will feature Dinosaur Jr as well.

These pair of shows cannot be considered a reunion, as the duo has never officially broken up. However, the two have gone on to work on their own side projects. One of these ventures was Palmer’s, who has since embarked on her own solo career that she actually got started through a crowdfunded kickstarter program and a Patreon. The other half of Dresden Dolls, Viglione, has pursued number of different collaborations and actually joined the Violent Femmes to drum back in 2013. Aside from the side projects the two have played various shows together since 2008. The first being their shows in a handful of American cities, that also included a New Year’s Eve show in San Fransisco, as reported by NME.

Ryan Fricke: Music is my therapy, which I could not function without. I am currently finishing my senior year a Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida with a Journalism major and a Creative Writing Minor. I first realized I wanted to become a Music Journalist the minute I learned that I could get paid to do the two things I love most, writing and listening to music. I have yet to decide which I am more infatuated with but for the time being I will happily house them to their stalemate. My plans after graduation are unclear but I hope to further gain experience in this profession.
