Members of legendary Boston alternative punk group Piebald have just announced that they will be reuniting for a long awaiting tour they’ve named “You’re Part Of It” Tour, hitting the East Coast for their August dates, and then heading to the West Coast in September to finish it all off. Announced via Brooklyn Vegan, this news is following the band reissuing all their past albums, as well as the news regarding a reunion show at Wrecking Ball festival in Atlanta, the band wanted to hit up more cities for more shows to perform for their enormous fan base.
Piebald’s last show was in 2008, where they performed a hometown show at Boston’s The Middle East, and then promptly broke up. They did not been on a stage since, except for one reunion show in 2010 at Bamboozle Music Festival, however their legacy continued to grow. Piebald quietly would still make is way somehow to appear on a New-England bred’s mixtape, or on playlists in digital stores, never really dying out and primed for a comeback.
With things changed now the band decided that its the best time to come back into the spotlight with a full US tour, Consequence of Sound sat down with drummer Luke Garro asking about the reunion tour thought process, Garro said “We’ve been itching to do this for a few years now, but were hesitant to do it without a real “reason.” We first got asked to play Wrecking Ball down in ATL, and when we saw that a bunch of old friends — Thursday, Hey Mercedes, The Promise Ring, et cetera — were going to be on the lineup, we couldn’t resist a party like that. That, and we just recently re-released all of our past material on iTunes, so 2016 just felt like a good year to get back with the fans.”
Garro continues on in the interview about his thoughts on the upcoming return of the band “I’ve had a lot of people come up to me or find me on the interweb and tell me they wish they could’ve seen us. Seems to be a new generation that has somehow found out about us and digs what we did. A lot of the friends we made on the road still keep in touch as well and are as enthusiastic as ever about these shows. I guess we’ll really find out in August!”
Indeed we will find out in August, but from the looks of it, there is a lot to be excited for.
