Catfish And The Bottlemen Announce New Album The Ride For May 2016 Release

Catfish And The Bottlemen have announced new album coming May 27 of this year. The Ride contains eleven tracks that are exclusively new. Their single “Soundcheck” just recently got its own music video. But the fan favorite of the tracklisting is “7” which is a live recording. The new album can be pre-ordered for Catfish fans.

“I feel like everybody started thinking too outside the box trying to be arty and different,” said Van McCann of Catfish And The Bottlemen in a statement. “We wanted to stay inside the box. I always say if you can play it on an acoustic guitar and win over a bar or a kitchen even of rowdy people… then you’ve done it… that’s how I see song writing.”

The Ride is a sequel to Catfish’s album that was released in 2014, The Balcony. But since then the band has been working on creating an album that captures the soul and spirit of old fashioned rock music. Those sounds could encompass The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, who knows. The music is almost a time warp, going back to the good old days of rock and the development of what it means to be a teenager. It captures the angst and the moments of being caught, stuck in a sense, between identity and passion. While Catfish’s previous album, The Balcony won the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough Act in February, the new album expresses this grasp on maturity, a bit of a growth, and what it means to be youthful rockers making it up in the world.

Catfish And The Bottlemen are expected to perform a short tour through North America following the release of The Ride May 27 of this year. The band will be performing starting the month of June. The short tour will include performances at Governors Ball and Firefly Music Festival. Catfish will also be performing as a headline gigs at O2 Academy Glasgow and London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town. The band will also perform at Southend Cliffs Pavillion, Doncaster Dome and Brighton Dome following the short North American tour.
