This week at SXSW 2016, Nas premiered the never before heard collaboration he created with J Dilla, reported Pitchfork.
When introducing the track to a full crowd at SXSW, Nas said that the track “Sickness” would be featured on the long awaited album The Diary. There was some confusion about this in the days afterwards, as the title was not listed in the previously released track list. However, a correction was made via a press release saying that the song will not be featured on the album but will be sent out when the album is pre-ordered and separately released on April 15th. “Sickness” was originally created in 2001 by Dilla, alongside beats by Madlib. In 2016 Nas added a verse, making this the recent collaboration that it is.
Dilla’s album The Diary is finally set to be released on April 15th after nearly 20 years of it’s first mention. It is supposed to be pretty ground breaking for the artist as he is more well-known for his producing skills. However, this album is all about his vocals and musical composition.
There will be vocal collaborations from artists such as Snoop Dogg, Bilal, Kokane, Frank and Dank, Nottz and Boogie, and producing from Madlib, Pete Rock, Hi-tek, Nottz, House Shoes, Supa Dave West, Bink! and Karriem Riggins and of course Dilla himself.
