Dave Lombardo’s Dead Cross Releases New Song “We’ll Sleep When They’re Dead”

Dead Cross has just released a new single called: “We’ll Sleep When They’re Dead”. The song was produced by Ross Robinson who has also produced for the likes of Korn, Limp Bizkit, At the Drive In and Blood Brothers. The band consists of: Slayer’s Dave Lombardo, Retox’s Mike Crain, Locust’s Justin Pearson and Gabe Serbian said Blabbermouth.

Lombardo told Rolling Stone a little about the the inspiration he finds from his latest project Dead Cross: “We, Ross included, all have fearless musical mindsets. Our collective résumés definitely reflect that. I believe that when you have musicians in a room that share that particular attribute, it takes you to another level in every way. With this band, I play harder, I play faster, and I play with the fury that this music demands. Each member brings a great deal of intensity and skill to the table. It’s invigorating to work with them.”

The new group formed in late 2015, and until this week had mostly been playing smaller shows in California. They’ve been taking it rather slowly as some of the members are still involved in other projects. Lombardo is currently touring with Suicidal Tendencies as stand in drummer. One project that has no chance of continuing for Lombardo is his late band Slayer, as he told Blabbermouth in 2014 that he would never return.

When explaining Dead Crosses unique sound to Noisy, Lombardo described it as: “just straightforward brutal punk— metal-esque, but it’s definitely not metal. I think it definitely leans more towards the punk style, because I feel that the way things are in the world, a punk attitude is definitely necessary to help you along with the shit that’s going on. There’s no time to sing ‘We Are the World’ or all this bullshit, we’re all pissed right now, and there’s no better way to release anger than to be in a punk band and write punk music.”
