José González just released a video for his track “With The Ink Of A Ghost” from his solo album Vestiges and Claws that he released last year.
The video follows a dancer, Yared Cederlund, as he artfully demonstrates the message and vision for this song through dance, said Stereogum.
The director Malin Ingrid Johansson wrote a beautiful narration about the video:
“Using both the physical movement through Yared’s body, and the movement between the two rooms, we wanted to do something as contradictory as visualizing the invisible.
Us people are often strongly under the influence by forces we can’t see. Forces inside and outside of us, sometimes created by events that took place long before us.
In the same way, our actions today will affect those coming long after us. By then we will be what’s invisible.”
González released Vestiges and Claws early last year and has since then released videos for featured songs on the album such as “Leaf off/The Cave”, “Every Age”, “Open Book” and “Let it Carry You”.
The album Vestiges and Claws was produced by González himself . The lyrics in his songs ask many deep questions such as “How do you situate yourself in the world?” “What makes a person take dominion over another?” “How much time should a laborer set aside for leisure?” “How can you make your voice heard without crowding out those who feel less inclined to speak?” This album has a complex and philosophical focus to it that sets this one apart from the others. Still the album never wavers from everything that fans have come to expect of José González.
Indie Folk Singer/Songwriter González is currently in the midst of his spring tour that is taking place through out just about all of the big cities in the U.S. and lasts for the duration of March.
