Swedish indie-folk crooner, Jose Gonzalez seeks to shake things up a bit by taking his show on the road with renowned chamber sextet, yMusic. Backed by a skilled-ensemble of woodwind, brass, and string players, Gonzalez will shop his catalog, including this year’s excellent, Vestiges & Claws to theater’s and concert halls across the United States.
Better known for his contributions to the band, Junip, Jose Gonzalez first performed with yMusic at Lincoln Center’s Out of Doors festival in Damrosch Park to a standing-room only crowd during the summer of 2014. Having grown accustomed to the singer/songwriter’s particular flavor of expression, the six classically-trained players know how to serve a communicative performance via Gonzalez’s own material.
Chamber-musician for yMusic, Rob Moose delivers his take on collaborating with Gonzalez in a live-setting:
“yMusic is thrilled to be joining Jose once again and to bring our musicianship and unique color to Jose’s gorgeous, moody songwriting.”
The tour will set-sail this coming March 6th in Seattle and features Gonzalez at his most optimistic as he conveys:
“After a year of touring with a band focused on percussion and vocals I look forward to playing many of the same songs in a different style. I’m very excited to go on tour with yMusic! I love their setup and taste in arrangements, being six super talented musicians playing strings, flute, clarinet and trumpet, it feels like it opens us up from sounding energetic and avant-garde to classic and delicate.”
