After a little over a month of anticipation, not just one but two album title changes, several track list changes, a mega live-stream album premiere event, and release date (February 11) that came and went with no new album, Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo in its entirety is finally available for the public’s consumption. According to Pitchfork, the album is available for streaming via Tidal for the next week, after which it will be available for purchase and download on KanyeWest.com. The album is the follow-up to his sixth studio full-length, 2013’s Yeezus.
West’s seventh proper studio album was announced in January with the title SWISH, which was then briefly changed to Waves and So Help Me God, and finally made official as The Life of Pablo last week. As usual, West documented every turbulent moment in the making and marketing of the album via his Twitter profile. On Thursday, February 11, West held a massive live streaming event in New York City via Tidal, which was held in conjunction with the debut of his latest fashion line, Yeezy Season 3.
Guests on The Life of Pablo include The-Dream, Kirk Franklin, Kid Cudi, Rihanna, Young Thug, Desiigner, Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Ty Dolla $ign, André 3000 and Kendrick Lamar. Previously released tracks from West’s sporadic “G.O.O.D Fridays” series include “No More Parties in L.A.,” FACTS,” “30 Hours” and “Real Friends.” While West is the principle songwriter on the album, there are writing credits for Drake on “30 Hours” and Pharrell on “30 Hours” and “FACTS (Charlie Heat Version).” Co-production credits on the record include Rick Rubin, Hudson Mohawke, Swizz Beatz, Mike Dean, Boi-1da, Metro Boomin, and Madlib, among others.
UPDATE (2/15/2016): Despite reports that The Life of Pablo would be available for download, Kanye West has pushed the purchase date back for another week.
