Blink 182 Say They Have Recorded Five New Songs with Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio

In a recent interview with NME, Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker said he, band mate Mark Hoppus, and Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio have recorded five new songs together.

Skiba took ex-Blink member Tom DeLonge’s place as temporary fill-in following DeLonge’s departure from the band and the drama which around it revolved.

DeLonge attributed his leaving the band to a desire to pursue solo projects.

Barker told NME:

Matt [Skiba]’s killing it. He’s fun to play with and write with. We’re just getting started, but I think we’ve got like four or five songs right now that I’m really happy with. There’s a song called Punk Rock Cliché,” which I love the most right now. It’s about friends of ours and their relationships.

Barker continued to describe the collaborations as “different, but still the same,” crediting Skiba for influencing the new tracks with some Alkaline Trio sound.

“It’s really cool, and I really love what we’ve done so far,” Barker said.
