Danish singer MØ and American DJ Diplo released another collaborative track. This new song, “Kamikaze,” follows their sizzling summer hit “Lean On.”
A recent article on SPIN.com cited a press quote from the Dane, where she talks about working on music with Diplo.
It read:
“I love working with Diplo. It’s always such a fun and open-minded creative process. It’s about making memorable songs but, more than that, it’s about making pop music that wants to push boundaries. I’ve been loving all kinds of pop since I first fell in love with the Spice Girls, but pop needs to bring something new to the table, it needs balls. And that’s what you get working with Diplo. Making “Lean On” and being a part of that tornado these past eight months has been one of the greatest experiences in my life so far, and I’m super happy that “Kamikaze” is made in a collaboration with the same group of my friends.”
“Kamikaze” will please pop-fans, because it has the catchy sound that we’re currently hearing on Top 40 radio stations. But, taking it a step further, this new track features honking horns, and a series of beats, without overcrowding MØ’s vocals.
And, just incase you’re wondering how to pronounce the “Ø” in singer MØ’s name, Billboard stated that “Ø is a Danish vowel that is unpronounceable in English”, but “it’s similar to “eu” in the French world bleu.” But, when “Kamikaze” premiered on Annie Mac’s show on BBC Radio 1, the singer revealed that “’Moe’ is actually my preferred way to say it,” when dealing with international audiences, because not everyone can master the Danish pronunciation.
