Last week, Diplo’s collaborative effort with Skrillex, known as Jack Ü, made headlines when they announced they would be performing a 24-hour live stream DJ set, and released their their debut album, “Skrillex & Diplo Present Jack Ü”. And now, Diplo is back in the news again with another new collaborative release that features DJ Snake and a Danish electro-pop singer named, MØ.
MØ, DJ Snake, and Diplo came together with Diplo’s reggae group Major Lazer to record a song, called “Lean On”.
Consequence of Sound compared “Lean On”’s beats and melodies to that of “XXX 88”, which was a previous collaboration between Diplo and MØ.
Additionally, Entertainment Weekly noted that “Lean On” differs from Major Lazer’s most famous song “Pon de Floor”, as it “mixes a mellow dub vibe with featherweight pop electronics, resulting in a low-key but highly infectious track.”
And, just incase you’re wondering how to pronounce the “Ø” in singer MØ’s name, Billboard stated that “Ø is a Danish vowel that is unpronounceable in English”, but “it’s similar to “eu” in the French world bleu.”
Check it out the colorful cartoonish lyric video for “Lean On”, below.
Looking ahead, Diplo is gearing up for Major Lazer’s next album that will be released in April. And, Diplo announced in an interview at the Grammy Awards that the new album features appearances from Ariana Grande, Ellie Goulding, Travis Scott, Pusha-T, and Gwen Stefani.
