Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, stars in a new short documentary where she sings the national anthem at a local little league game and wanders the countryside of Texas. Alan Del Rio Ortiz directed the film and followed her back to Texas where she grew up.
Alan Del Rio Ortiz has been following St. Vincent on tour for years so it was only fitting he release this short documentary discussing her creative drive and the feeling she gets while performing. Clark starts out by opening the gates to a field where she wanders topless amongst the grass. She doesn’t go into her childhood much, but more of how she interpreted music throughout the years.”I think there are things you just can’t explain about a place,” Clark say about Dallas, Texas. She continues to say, “Music is one of those things that the more you give to it, the more you get back.” The documentary ends on Clark stating “I am my life’s work, I’ll never quit doing this.”
St. Vincent is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer who’s reinforced her reputation in the art of rock music. Clark’s hometown of Dallas, Texas is where she recorded all her albums- from 2007’s debut Marry Me, Strange Mercy, Love This Giant, and her recent Grammy Award-winning St. Vincent. She recently accompanied Taylor Swift on her 1989 Tour and she just performed at Fashion Meets Music Festival this weekend in Columbus, Ohio.
