Japanese hip-hop pioneer DJ Krush will be performing at The Roxy on September 30. The Tokyo-native has been mixing and composing music that has been critically acclaimed in the international club scene. In the early 80s, his work in the movie “Wild Style” got him into hip-hop.
In 1987, he formed Krush Posse which made numerous appearances in various media as the best hip hop act in Japan. Over the years, he became known for his atmospheric instrumental production which incorporates sound elements from nature and extensive use of jazz and soul samples. DK Krush began his solo work after the group break-up in 1991 and soon grabbed people’s attention as the first DJ to use turntables as live instruments, doing free sessions with live musicians on stage.
As of now, DJ Krush has performed in front of over 4 million audiences in 282 cities of 46 countries. Be sure to catch him as he visits The Roxy next month!
