NEW MUSIC ALERT: Boots And Deradoorian Release New Song “Aquaria”

After producing four of the five tracks on FKA twigs’ surprise release, Boots has announced that he is stepping out on his own. The producer is gearing up to release his debut solo album, Aquaria, on November 13th, 2015.

AQUΛRIA is set somewhere in a twilight realm of the Information Era as BOOTS blends masterful musical styles and gritty vocals with a futuristic approach at creating a boundary-crushing defiance to the established musical hivemind,” according to a press release.

On this new album, Boots works with several notable names. There is featured co-production from El-P of Run The Jewels and Carla Azar, respectively. And, there is a guest vocal appearance by Angel Deradoorian, the former bassist and vocalist for Dirty Projectors.

Deradorian, herself, has recently taken the leap to launch a solo career. Her debut album is out now on Anticon. Listen to the lead single, here.

In this collaboration, Deradoorian has enhanced the vocals with her parts on the title track to Boots’s debut.

“Aquaria” is an electronic song, but it is laid back and rather groovy. It features Boots on lead vocals with Deradoorian taking a featured part that gives her several lines of main vocal air time through out the song, in addition to having provided numerous layered backing vocals.

Previously, Boots released a short film, titled Motorcycle Jesus. Unlike the traditional music video format, “Motorcycle Jesus” takes the viewers on 30-minute trip through the Mojave Desert. It was shot in the style of a short feature film, and had been derived entirely from Boots’ creative vision. And, as a means of accurately bringing his vision to fruition, the producer was involved with the camera set up for every shot in this cinematic short, which featured an original soundtrack by Boots, Azar, and El-P; so, Aquaria, once again, reunites those three talented artists.

Boots, who’s given name is Jordan “Jordy” Asher, gained recognition in 2013 for his work as a co-producer and songwriter on Beyoncé’s critically acclaimed self-titled album. He signed with Roc Nation, a Sony imprint, and released a series of new songs, including “Dust” – which Beyoncé shared on her Facebook Page – and “Ride Ride Ride” that features Australian singer-songwriter Sia on backing vocals.

Then, Boots went on to score one of the trailers for the film Fifty Shades of Grey, and capped off his year in 2014, by performing on the Late Show with David Letterman with Run The Jewels. And, on November 6th, 2014, Boots released a new song, “I Run Roulette,” which he would go on to perform during a March 2015 appearance on The Tonight Show.

The work behind Boots’s short film and his debut album have taken up much of his year, in 2015; so, it will be interesting to see where he goes from here over the fall and into next year.

Looking into the immediate future, the next thing that Boots has lined up is that he’s going out on the road, beginning in September, to mainly as support Run The Jewels on their 2015 fall tour. Check out a list of those dates, below.
