Supergroup Hollywood Vampires featuring Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry will hold their debut performance at The Roxy on September 16 and 17. Rounding out the band’s lineup will be former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum. The band will also play at Rock in Rio on September 24.
The Hollywood Vampires will release an album on September 11, as a tribute to the original group formed during the 70’s. The album will feature guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Brian Johnson, Slash, Zak Starkey, Marilyn Manson amongst others, and will be composed mainly of covers from the 70’s with the exception of two new tracks written by Cooper titled “My Dead Drunk Friends” and “Raise The Dead”. Also included is a voice-over titled “The Last Vampire” voiced by Christopher Lee.
The project is a salute to Cooper’s hard partying L.A. crew in 1973/1974, which included Keith Moon, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Harry Nilsson, and Micky Dolenz, among others. A plank of wood featuring the legendary musicians’ signature is immortalized at Hollywood’s Rainbow Bar & Grill in the club’s upper level, known as “Over The Rainbow.” Be sure to catch these living legends at The Roxy next month.
