Previously Unreleased Kurt Cobain Solo Album Announced

According to CNN.com, A compilation of never-before-heard audio recordings by Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain now has a release date: November 6th, 2015.

According to “Montage Of Heck” (the documentary of Kurt Cobain’s life which aired on HBO) filmmaker Brett Morgen, in his efforts searching Cobain’s archives for the documentary, he discovered “hours upon hours of never-before-heard Cobain music” and other materials, some of which will be included in the November 6th release.

The album will include both a twelve minute acoustic song, along with a comedy sketch in which Cobain voices all of the characters.

“These are all just Kurt by himself with the guitar,” Said Morgen. “These aren’t multi-track, finished songs or work-ups, but they’re extraordinary, and I think they provide a tremendous insight into his (creative) process. I think they further our understanding of Kurt, both as a musician and as a man.”

The idea of a new Cobain release has had many fans of the musician waiting anxiously for this announcement since the discovery of the music in May. The addition of a previously unheard album to the DvD release of Cobain’s documentary will help spread the documentary and Cobain’s new music to the world, providing valuable insight into his life and struggles.

Morgen was shocked by his discovery, stating that “I could not possibly understand how this existed and nobody had encountered it before”. 21 years after Cobain’s death, it is surprising that we’re only getting this material now.

Cobain died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in 1994. The details of his death are disputed by conspiracy theorists and have even prompted Courtney Love to file cease and desist against theatres that were willing to entertain this idea.
