Battles, the American experimental rock group, founded in 2002 in New York City by Ian Williams (formerly of Don Caballero and Storm & Stress), Has released a new song from their upcoming album, La Di Da Di You can listen to the new song below on Soundcloud.
The Yabba is one of twelve tracks from the new album, La Di Da Di, which as the title suggests, is intended to be repetitive. The Yabba succeeds in this notion, starting out with a few repeating beats before adding in additional, newer ones, taking some out, adding new ones in, so on and so forth. The Yabba is a long but enjoyable mess of drumbeats, synths and other electronic instruments, that will have you tapping your foot for the entire six minute and fifty second duration.
Following a live session of four album tracks played on loop for 24 hours, this is the first chance for fans to hear the studio version of La Di Da Di music. “The Yabba” was premiered yesterday with Rolling Stone and is now available widely on streaming services.
In addition to releasing their new album on September 18th, Battles will be embarking on a North American tour, with shows from Raleigh to Toronto.
