Rise Against is an American hardcore band who formed back in 1999. In their first four years, they were signed to an independent record label and released two studio albums. They later set off to perform, opening for bands such as AFI and Strung Out. Their work was noted for great “underground success,” which soon led to the band signing their first major label deal at Geffen Records.
With a melodic hardcore and punk rock sound, Rise Against’s music style is inspired by a variety of artists. Their sixth studio album, Endgame, creates a theme of positive light in grim situations. Frontman Tim McIlrath wrote the album with the perspective, “what if the place on the other side of this transition is a place we’d all rather be living in?” Now with their latest album, The Black Market, the band continues with successful chart-topping songs. The record entered the US Billboard 200 chart as #3 and reached worldwide praise.
