Experimental hip-hop group Death Grips will be performing at the Glass House on August 25 as part of the FYF Sideshows. The group consists of rapper Stefan Burnett aka MC Ride, drummer Zach Hill, and keyboardist/producer Andy Morin. They are promoting their fourth studio album The Powers That B, which was released on March 31, 2015.
The experimental hip-hop project started out in Sacramento, California, and put out its first mixtape, Exmilitary, in 2011. The group immediately became a fan favorite. The band’s music has been described as combining noise music, hip hop, punk and industrial music. The group is also known for MC Ride’s bleak, dark and cryptic lyrics and aggressive rapping style.
Recently, Death Grips has preferred to release its music for free, such as the album No Love Deep Web (against the label’s wishes), and then in 2013 they released Government Plates for free without any lead up or hype. They have announced their disbanded in the past but they are back touring for the time being, so be sure to catch Death Grips at the Glass House later this month.
