Aphex Twin, the British electronic produces (who, according to Spin.com “makes truly absurd amount of music” revealed another of his new songs, “oberheim blacet1b” on BBC Radio 6. The new song is off of Aphex Twin’s upcoming EP, Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-2008 which will be released August 21st. The EP will feature eight songs. “oberheim blacet1b” doesn’t hesitate at all, starting off with quick drum beats and echoing background noise before eventually dropping some of the background echos, then most of the drum beats entirely, shining the spotlight on some ominous sounding noise, before picking right back up where it left off. “oberheim blacet1b” can evoke some interesting emotions in a listener, and James Grebey of Spin.com referred to it as “Anxious”.
Back in February, Aphex Twin released a previously unreleased song, “Lannerlog” which became part of an “Undercover” soundcloud account, in which over a hundred sounds were posted.
Around since 1985, Richard David James has been in the music scene for longer than most electronic artists can claim, and has been referred to as “the most inventive and influential figure in contemporary electronic music” by The Guardian. He has released six studio albums and three EPs under his Aphex Twin alias.
The news of Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-2008 comes just months after Aphex Twin released Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 in February 2015, which featured around 27 minutes of traditional instruments being transformed into dance songs and other experimental music.
