Dinosaur Jr. will be performing at The Roxy as one of many FYF Sideshows taking place in Southern California before the main festival on August 22-23. The FYF Fest started in 2004 by 18-year old Sean Carlson and grew as the years went on. With a need for more space the festival was moved from Echo Park to the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown. In 2011, Goldenvoice joined as a producer of the event.
Dinosaur Jr. is best known for its distinct guitar sound that draws inspiration from the 60s and 70s classic rock. The band was formed by J Mascis (guitar and vocals) and his high school classmate Lou Barlow (bass guitar), following the break-up of their hardcore punk band Deep Wound. Along with their peers the Pixies, the band injected levels of pure guitar noise to create a distinct guitar sound with a lot of high gain, feedback and distortion, making them an important part of the alternative rock movement of the 1990s.
Now in its 12th year, the FYF Fest will be held at The LA Sports Arena & Exposition Park on Saturday August 22nd and Sunday August 23rd. Single day tickets are sold out, but general admission and VIP tickets are still available. A general admission2-Day ticket is a single wristband granting access to the festival each day where you can wander between all 4 stages and hit the various food and drink vendors. A VIP Ticket gets you access to the festival each day, all of the GA festival amenities, and access to the VIP area.
