Ghost has premiered a new track called “From the Pinnacle to the Pit” from their forthcoming album Meliora.
The new track is powerful from beginning to end, starting with an instrumental intro that leads into vocals about 30 seconds into the song. It features heavy guitar parts throughout, and the lead vocalist, who currently goes by the title Papa Emeritus III, showcases strong vocals in an interesting melody. One of the Nameless Ghouls, as Ghost’s instrumentalists are known, said,”We always have had a craving for a truly stomping riff-based song, Led Zeppelin style,” of the latest track. The Swedish heavy metal band previously released a song from Meliora entitled “Cirice.” Meliora is currently available for pre-order and will be released on August 21, via Loma Vista Recordings. It will be the first album on which Papa Emeritus III appears, as he was only announced to have replaced Papa Emeritus II in May 2015. The forthcoming album will also be Ghost’s third full-length studio album, following 2010’s Opus Eponymous and 2013’s Infestissumam. The group will be touring North America in support of the album beginning on September 22, until they end the tour November 1 as part of the lineup for Arizona’s Monster Mash Festival.
