Maximum Balloon, the side project of TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, has released a new track with Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and fellow TV On The Radio member Tunde Adebimpe. The track is called “Let It Grow.”
Sitek released his first album as Maximum Balloon in 2010, and will be releasing another record under that name in the near future via his Federal Prism label. There is a chance that “Let It Grow” will be on the forthcoming album.
The track is mid-tempo and some of the instrumentals are almost ethereal, but Karen O’s vocals are front and center throughout most of the song. It’s a chill song that is a great choice for a summer release, because the music and vocals feel like a vacation that lasts just over six minutes. Listen to “Let It Grow” below.
In 2014, Sitek released a solo track called “God Damn Beauty” through his record label, but not as Maximum Balloon. Meanwhile, Karen O performed at the Vice Turns 20 Party in December 2014 and played some songs from her first solo album live in Berlin later that month. She also released a video for her track “Day Go By” in early 2015. Tunde Adebimpe collaborated with Sal P and Sinkane on “Speedline Miracle Masterpiece,” a track for Grand Theft Auto V’s The Alchemist and Oh No Present: Welcome to Los Santos and directed the music video for Big Noble’s “Pedal.”
