LA’s favorite summer tradition and premier outdoor concert series returns for its 31st year. The Twilight Concert Series welcomes Sister Nancy and Jesse Royal at the iconic Santa Monica Pier, featuring KCRW DJ Travis Holcombe as host.
Sister Nancy is a dancehall DJ and singer. Her most well known song is “Bam Bam,” considered to be a reggae anthem classic. The song has more than four million views online. The song was featured in the movie “The Interview” and shot up through the iTunes Reggae Chart. Sister Nancy has been around a long time—releasing her debut solo album in 1982—and shows no signs of slowing down. Also performing is Jesse Royal, who hails from Maroon Town and the District of Orange in St. James, Jamaica.
The Twilight Concert Series is presented by KCRW, which creates and curates a unique mix of content centered on music discovery, NPR news, cultural exploration and informed public affairs. KCRW can be found on the air in LA, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Mojave, Palm Springs, and via five KCRW-developed smart phone apps and online.
