The Jesus And Mary Chain Announce They Will Perform Psychocandy In-Full For Summer And Fall Shows

Scottish Alternative- Rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain has added tour dates onto their Psychocandy tour, which adds more people into the mix that can celebrate 30 years of The Jesus and Mary Chain with them. The additional shows will be in Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia.

The Jesus and Mary Chain is bringing the excitement of the Psychocandy tour to the “Big Apple”, and “The City of Brotherly Love” on the tail end of this summer. These tour dates serve as an extension to the Spring tour for The Jesus and Mary Chain. This is the 30th anniversary of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s debut album, Psychocandy. Dorian Lynskey, a music writer for The Observer described the album, and The Jesus and Mary Chain as “the most notorious band since the Sex Pistols…Some of Psychocandy is beautifully wasted pop; some sounds like being trapped in a wind tunnel full of broken glass and bees; the rest sounds like both happening at once.” – Dorian Lynskey, The Observer

Thirty years is a long time in any profession, especially in the entertainment industry. The Jesus and Mary Chain was not predicted to be the huge success the band went on to be. One of the more influential bands when it comes to the different avenues rock can take was only seen to have a “shelf-life” of six months. That was in 1985. Jim Reid of Psychocandy elaborated on the pressure and realization that everyone counting on the band to be irrelevant.

“Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry. In 1985 there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six month life span for the Mary Chain.” – Jim Reid

What makes this tour special is the fact that, TJMC will be performing their entire debut album on stage. Tickets for the remaining Psychocandy shows can be purchased below.
