Hip hop collective Czarface, made up of rapper Inspectah Deck and underground hip hop duo 7L & Esoteric, along with masked rapper MF DOOM, released a song titled “Ka-Bang” on June 5, ahead of Czarface’s upcoming album Every Hero Needs a Villan, which is due out June 16th on Brick Records.
The song, in classic Wu Tang-ally fashion, begins with a sample from an old recording, which then cuts out as Inspectah Deck takes the mic and drops a verse. Likewise, the other rappers’ verses are broken up by samples from old TV shows. MF DOOM has the last turn on the track, and immediately starts shredding everything with quick, flowing rhymes. He even makes a new Star Wars reference, rapping that he’s after “that JJ Abrams style payday”. And of course, he does it all from behind his notorious metal mask.
As Spin reported, Every Hero Needs a Villain will feature a ton of juicy guest spots, including from Method Man, GZA, Meyhem Lauren, and Large Professor. Like DOOM, they will be participating in superhero-themed songs, which go along with the collective’s other-worldly, warrior style that contributes to their popularity among youth.
Listen to the three minute track for a trip into the villain’s den.
