Grammy award-winning songwriter and Country music pioneer Dwight Yoakam will be performing at the Annenberg Space for Photography along with punk rock band X on August 8. The show is part of the concert series inspired by the “Emerging” exhibit at the Annenberg Space for Photography. The concerts will be held at Century Park in Century City and they are free to the public.
Dwight is a prolific artist who has been popular since the early 80s and has released more than 15 studio albums. He has sold more than 25 million records and he’s kept his sound fresh by embracing a wider range of sounds on recent recordings, including his latest “Second Hand Heart,” released in April this year. It charted at #2 on the Billboard Top Country Albums and #18 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
Opening the show will be punk rock band X. Formed during the first wave of American punk music in the late 70s, the band celebrates the trials and tribulations of living in Los Angeles. They received an Official Certificate of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles in acknowledgment of its contribution to Los Angeles music and culture. The entire original lineup returns for this show so don’t miss out!
