Ten Walls Banned From Performing At Sonar Festival, HARD Summer, and Creamfields Due To Homophobic Comments

Sonar Festival, HARD Summer, and Creamfields recently dropped Ten Walls after his homophobic rant on Facebook. According to NME, Ten Walls deleted the lengthy post once is sparked a negative response.

Although the original post is no longer available, bits and pieces of what Ten Walls originally wrote has managed to resurface on the internet. According to NME, the following is some of the content from the original post:

“I remember producing music for one Lithuanian musician, who tried to wash my brain that I don’t need to be so conservative and intolerant about them. When I asked him “what would you do if you realized that your 16-year-old son’s browny (anus) is ripped by his boyfriend?” Well he was silent.

Ten Walls’ rant continued on to conclude that, ‘Unfortunately the people of other breed continue to do it and everyone knows it but does nothing.’

A few days following the incident, Walls took to social media again to apologize for his actions. He wrote the following:

“Last week I wrote a Facebook post that was wrong and completely out of character and the result was a badly written post that was unacceptable. It was never my intention to offend anyone. I’m really saddened by everything that has happened and I would like to apologise to everyone I’ve let down, especially to my friends in the gay community, and my fans. I now need to take a break and have cancelled my upcoming shows.”

Despite Walls attempted apologize to repair his actions, the artistic community has fought back against him with outrage. As a result, many artists and festival organizers chose to disassociate with Ten Walls.

“Whilst we respect freedom of speech, we find his defamatory and prejudiced comments about the gay community extremely offensive and feel that this is not in line with the spirit of Creamfields or an opinion that we support. Creamfields is celebrated for being a festival that welcomes all and we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to hate of any kind. Everyone who attends our shows should feel welcome and safe. Comments like this, coming from one of the artists, contradicts our festival ethos.” Read an official statement released by Creamfields.

In addition to losing gigs, Ten Walls recently lost his booking agent as well. Coda Music Agency released the following statement in regards to the issue:

“Coda Music Agency condemns all forms of discrimination based on race, religion or sexual orientation. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer and to represent a hugely diverse roster of artists. We no longer represent Ten Walls,” a spokeswoman said.
Many artists have also turned to social media to express their disgust in Ten Walls actions. Some of their posts can be seen below.
