Juliette & The Licks are back after a six year hiatus to perform its big reunion show at the El Rey Theatre on July 23. The band is currently working on its upcoming album, which is due out in spring 2016. It will be the band’s fourth studio and the first in the past 10 years. They will embark on an extensive European tour later this year. Dates have not been announced.
Juliette said that she knew she needed to bring back a killer band after recording music with Brad Shultz of Cage the Elephant, and that the only way to do was to bring back the best band she ever had – The Licks. In choosing which venue to perform the reunion show, Juliette said the El Rey Theatre had special importance to her.
“The last venue I played as a solo act with my other band was El Rey,” said Juliette. “I have always loved that venue. I figured let’s start with an amazing hometown reunion show with guest musicians. And take it from there.”
