Dawes is an American folk rock band from Malibu, California. Taylor Goldsmith and Wylie Gelber were originally from the band Simon Dawes. The two branched off in 2009 and now play with Griffin Goldsmith and Tay Strathairn to compile the Americana/soul band Dawes.
Dawes released their debut album, North Hills, in 2009, and the follow up album, Nothing Is Wrong, in 2011. Their most recent album is, Stories Don’t End, which received positive reviews from many critics. At AllMusic, they commented that the album “barely registers upon the first spin (it’s easy pop for the millennial generation), but if given the time to percolate, it produces a damn fine cup of coffee.”
