TBD Fest, a Sacramento-based music festival getting ready for its second year, recently announced its full lineup, which includes 80s rock legends Tears for Fears, local hip-hop trio Death Grips, and the usual host of acts associated with major music festivals. Notably, the lineup includes several “noise” bands such as A Place to Bury Strangers, which fit in well with the grungy Sacremento scene. However, with electronic acts such as Cut Copy and Dr. Dog and the visually overpowering Pretty Lights dominating the lineup, TBD Fest can be sure to attract a similar crowd to the one Coachella brings to its grounds every year.
What makes this festival unique is that it is held on the West Sacramento river front, and uses the buildings of California’s capital as its visual backdrop. According to the Sacramento Bee, last year’s festival drew 21,000 attendees, who flocked to see such acts as Blondie and Moby. However, the festival organizers were still troubled by financial difficulties, making this year’s return even more remarkable. And with acts such as The Growlers and Mob Deep bringing in their wide fan bases, it seems that this year’s fest will draw a sizable crowd.
TBD Fest was founded by Michael Hargis and Clay Nutting, Sacramento natives who desired to bring the joy of music festivals to their hometown. They spent the year promoting the event at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, and by hosting a New Year’s Eve party with prolific DJ A-Trak—known for being Kanye West’s DJ—who will also be performing at the festival.
Tickets, which can be found HERE, are $189 for three days, but $159 during the Early Bird deal that lasts until the end of the month. VIP tickets are $299, and $259 for early birds. Although the lineup is out, the schedule is yet to be announced—or, more appropriately, TBD.
