Australian rapper Iggy Azalea will be performing at the Staples Center on September 25. Her most recent release was her 2014 effort The New Classic, which won the Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album award from the American Music Awards and the Breakthrough Artist Release award from the ARIA Music Awards, as well as a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
At the age of 16, Azalea left for the United States to pursue a career in hip hop music. She made controversial songs that went viral on Youtube and in 2012, she released her first mixtape and became a model for Levi Jeans. Her debut album was released under Virgin EMI and Def Jam Recordings and spawned five singles: “Work”, “Bounce”, “Change Your Life” (featuring T.I.), “Fancy” (featuring Charli XCX) and “Black Widow” (featuring Rita Ora). “Fancy” went on to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, making Azalea only the fourth solo female rapper ever to top the Hot 100.
Azalea keeps herself busy aside from music. In October 2014, Azalea and her boyfriend Nick Young were announced as the new faces of Forever 21’s 2014 holiday campaign and last month, she signed on to be the 100th birthday ambassador of Australian underwear and clothing company Bonds. Be sure to catch Azalea as she performs at Staples Center in September.
