The Who @ Staples Center 9/21

English rock band The Who will perform at Staples Center on September 21 as part of the “The Who Hits 50! North American Tour.” The band currently consists of original members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend with support from touring members. The band was founded in 1964 and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide.

The Who was an important part of the British invasion in the mid-60s movement. The band’s style got rid of the conventional R&B structures at the time with Townsend’s guitar work, John Entwistle’s bass and Keith Moon’s chaotic drumming. The Who’s also made major contributions to rock music that many other bands have adopted, including the development of the Marshall stack, large PA systems, and the use of the synthesizer.

The Who have released 11 albums, the most recent being the 2006 Endless Wire. The album debuted at #7 on the Billboard 200 and #9 on the UK Albums Chart. Be sure to catch The Who as they visit the Staples Center in September.
