Black death metal band Goatwhore will be performing at the Roxy Theatre on June 14. The band was formed by former Acid Bath/Crowbar guitarist Sammy Duet with Soilent Green singer L. Ben Falgoust II, guitarist Ben Stout, bassist Patrick Bruders, and drummer Zak Nolan. The band released its sixth studio album Constricting Rage of the Merciless in July of last year.
Goatwhore took the urban tales of voodoo curses, witchcraft and hauntings from their hometown of New Orleans, Lousiana, and mashed them all together to form their trademark sound. The band boasts a ruthless onslaught of fist-pumping and heathen anthems, though they have stated that they think of themselves as “just straight heavy metal.” The band’s latest album served as the band’s first studio effort to be tracked to two-inch tape. This technique resulted in a sonically devastating offering.
Goatwhore was named Best Hard Rock/Metal Artist of 2010 at The Big Easy Awards, a deserving honor based on performance throughout the year. They are known to provide an ominous and reckless vibe at each and every show. Be sure to catch Goatwhore this June.
