The electronic dance music duo consisting of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe, better known as Basement Jaxx, is coming off of the release of their 2014 album Junto. To the delight of fans who have yet to get the chance to see Buxton and Ratcliffe perform live, Basement Jaxx will be going on tour in the US this summer. Saving many a trip across the pond.
The Basement Jaxx mini-tour will feature five stops on the country’s respective coasts beginning June 26th. Basement Jaxx will be making stops around America for the first time pre-dating the release of Junto. The first show will be in San Francisco at Public Works. This show along with the Saturday June 27th show in Denver at Beta will be “DJ date only.” On Sunday June 28th, the group will be playing at The Hollywood Bowl as part of the sites summer series. Basement Jaxx will be joined by Tuxedo (Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One),Bootsy Collins & the Rubber Band for one of the many days of KCRW’s hosted World Festival. Other performers such as Ed Sheeran, Death Cab For Cutie, and Ziggy Marley will take turns performing on the Hollywood Bowl Stage. After their Los Angeles Performance, Basement Jaxx will trek across the country to the nation’s capital. On June 30th Washington DC’s 9:30 club will host the duo as they gear up for the US Tour finale in New York. The following day, Wednesday July 1st, Basement Jaxx will wrap up the mini-tour at the Central Park Summerstage in “The Big Apple.”
The band has been relatively quiet since the release of their Grammy-nominated project. They released few videos for songs off of, such as the vibrant visual for “Rock This Road.” In addition to “Rock This Road”, a video treatment was also given to the track “We Are Not Alone.” Ratcliffe and Buxton emerged from the London House scene in the mid- 90’s, and could be looked at as pioneers for breaking ground and placing EDM on the world stage. The last time Basement Jaxx toured stateside was in 2009. Needless to say it is a rarity to catch a live show of this group. The tour dates and ticket info can be seen below.
