Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish will be performing at the Greek Theatre on May 1. Nightwish is the third-best-selling band in Finland and is also the most successful Finnish band worldwide, selling more than 8 million records and receiving more than 60 gold and platinum awards, having released five Number 1 albums and thirteen Number 1 singles.
Throughout the years, the band has gone through different lineup changes. The first two singers of Nightwish were Tarja Turunen, who did vocals for the first five albums followed by Anette Olzon, who performed vocals on the next two albums. The band’s most recent release Endless Forms Most Beautiful, which came out just last month in the U.S., is the first to feature Floor Jansen. Jansen gained popularity through her involvement in After Forever, ReVamp, and contributions in Ayreon and Star One, among others.
Nightwish is known for playing symphonic metal with soaring female operatic vocals in a gothic atmosphere. The music is complex, layered and epic. If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, be sure to check out Nightwish at the Greek Theatre in May.
