American alternative rock band Death Cab for Cutie will perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl on September 26. The band consists of Ben Gibbard (vocals, guitar, piano), Nicholas Harmer (bass), and Jason McGerr (drums). The group recently released its eighth album Kintsugi last month, which will be the last to feature founding member Chris Walla as he announced his departure during the album’s production.
The band made its studio debut with 1998’s Something About Airplanes, featuring a dreamy, pop-oriented sound. The album was favorably reviewed in the independent music scene. Since then, Death Cab for Cutie has gone through several lineup changes and has gained a sizable audience that had gathered around the band’s emotional music. Death Cab for Cutie’s music has been labeled as indie rock, indie pop, emo, and alternative rock.
The show at the Santa Barbara Bowl will also feature Best Coast. Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast said of their new album California Nights, “When we decided to name the record California Nights, it just felt right… We related to the idea that things may look or sound fun and upbeat, but they may not actually always be that way – much like our songs.” Don’t miss your chance to see Death Cab for Cutie with special guest Best Coast at the Santa Barbara Bowl!
