Brian Wilson will perform at the Greek Theatre on June 20. Wilson is best known for being the multi-tasking leader and co-founder of the Beach Boys. Wilson would eventually write or co-write more than two dozen Top 40 hits for the group and he is often cited as one of the most innovative and influential creative forces in popular music. Brian Wilson is a Kennedy Center Honors recipient, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and a U.K. Music Hall of Fame inductee. As a member of The Beach Boys, Wilson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
Wilson released his latest album No Pier Pressure last month which features 13 songs and guest performances by Sebu Simonian, Kacey Musgraves, Zooey Deschanel of She & Him, and Nate Ruess of Fun. The album also features Beach Boys members Al Jardine and David Marks and former group member Blondie Chaplin. The record was released via Capitol Records.
The Greek Theatre show will also feature Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin with special guest Rodriguez. Wilson will perform songs from No Pier Pressure as well as top hits and fan favorites spanning his 50-year career with The Beach Boys and as a solo artist. Rodriguez, star of the Oscar-winning documentary Searching for Sugarman, will open the concert with a special set.
