Chicago alternative rock band Wilco will be performing at the Greek Theatre on August 5. The group was formed in 1994, but since early 2004, the lineup has been unchanged, consisting of Tweedy, Stirratt, guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalist Pat Sansone, keyboard player Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco has released eight studio albums, with the most recent being the 2011 effort The Whole Love.
Since forming, the band has gone from a country rock sound to genres including alternative rock and indie rock. Wilco’s music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists, including Bill Fay and Television, and has in turn influenced music by The National and Cherry Ghost. Wilco has since embraced more experimental styles to their music.
Wilco concluded its touring for 2014 with a string of special concerts featuring diverse and ever-changing setlists, performing songs from every album and every stage of its career. Sets changed nightly and featured fan favorites as well as rarely-played tracks. Be sure to check out Wilco as they make a stop at the Greek Theatre.
