Indie dance duo Matt and Kim, comprised of keyboardist Matt Johnson and drummer Kim Schifino, will be at the Fonda Theatre this April. The Brooklyn-natives released the single “Get It” in promotion of their fifth album New Glow, which will be released on April 7. On Feb. 10 they released the promotional video for the single “Hey Now” through their official VEVO Youtube account. The group has released four studio albums since forming in 2004: Matt & Kim (2006), Grand (2009), Sidewalks (2010) and Lightning (2012).
The two met while attending the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Two years later, Matt and Kim both contributed vocals during the recording sessions for their debut album. The self-titled album was released by the I Heart Comix label in fall 2006 and it made it on Entertainment Weekly’s “The Must List” and was named in Complex Magazine’s “50 Most Anticipated Albums of the Rest of 2012.”
Matt and Kim have played several festivals including Lollapalooza and the Siren Music Festival over the years. While pulling together live exuberant concert clips for the video “Get It,” Matt and Kim said they realized they had the best job in the world.
