The Damnwells @ The Roxy 6/13

Alternative rock band The Damnwells will make a stop at The Roxy this June. Their songs have appeared on such films as “Just Married,” “Chaos Theory,” and “The Howling Reborn” and TV series including “Ed,” “Life As We Know It” and “Brothers & Sisters.” After switching around with labels throughout their career, they are currently releasing music under the independent Pledge Music label.

Forming in 2001, the Brooklyn-native group is made up of original members Alex Dezen (lead vocals, guitar, piano), David Chernis (lead guitar), Ted Hudson (bass), and Steven Terry (drums/percussion). The band released a series of EPs in the early years that got the attention of many. It would eventually get them noticed enough to tour in support of Cheap Trick. After the tour, The Damnwells recorded their debut album in a Manhattan storage space where they also rehearsed. The album Bastards of the Beat came from those sessions. Their latest release was the 2011 of No One Listens To The Band Anymore. The Damnwells’ new self-titled album is coming out April 14. This is the first time the original lineup has been together since 2006’s Air Stereo.

Lead singer and songwriter Dezenn has worked and collaborated with other artists, including Dave Grohl, The Dixie Chicks, Kelly Clarkson, and more. He also has written songs that have appeared on albums by Justin Beiber and Cody Simpsons, among others. Don’t miss out on The Damnwells performing at the Roxy in June.
