There have been few emcee’s to rise so quickly up the hip-hop ladder as Harlem-based rapper ASAP Rocky. After bursting onto the scene with a mixtape in 2011, and announcing he was a force to be reckoned with on his debut album, ASAP has become a fixture not only in the world of hip-hop, but also in the world of fashion and style. In some ways he is as shrewd of a business man as he is a vocalist, and he has capitalized on his success in the music industry with endorsement deals and corporate sponsorships.
It would follow, then, that ASAP would be a great lecture or interview: a great lesson on what it takes to succeed in an industry as desolate and fickle as the music industry, and a true story on the rise from the streets of Harlem to world tours and haute couture. It would also only make sense that he would do this in New York: the city that made him, and the scene that he has revitalized.
