Philadelphia’s 8th annual Roots Picnic has unveiled an all-star lineup for this year’s event. Hosted by the legendary Roots crew, the festival will make its return to Philly’s Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing on Saturday, May 30th with performances spread across 3 stages.
This year’s lineup of musicians boasts a musically diverse range of performances including: The Weeknd, Phantogram, Erykah Badu, A$AP Rocky, DJ Mustard, Hiatus Kaiyote, Rae Sremmurd, Hudson Mohawke and more.
“The Picnic in Philly is always an event that we look forward to. It continues to get larger each year and the addition of the 3rd stage and the increased size of the footprint will allow us to significantly increase the number of fans that get the chance attend this year. The lineup is a diverse mix of great bands that will deliver a great musical experience to our hometown crowd,” said Shawn Gee, Roots manager and executive producer of the festival in a press release.
Tickets will go on sale this Friday, March 13 at 12pm (EST). They will be available at Ticketmaster.com, Live Nation Box Office (111 Presidential Blvd, Bala Cynwyd), TLA (334 South St., Philadelphia) or by phone at 800-745-3000.
Since their impressive U2 rendition on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon following an unexpected cancellation, The Roots have continued to book a number of performances. The band’s calendar of events features a performance at David Byrne’s tribute show at Carnegie Hall this month, as well as a set at Georgia’s Counterpoint Music and Arts Festival over Memorial Day weekend.
