Australian psychedelic group Tame Impala will be playing at the Fox Theater Pomona on April 15 just two days before they perform at Coachella. The group, which mainly consists of Kevin Parker who writes and records almost all of the music by himself, has released two albums Innerspeaker and Lonerism winning West Australian Music Awards for best newcomer and best popular live act.
The live band consists of Kevin Parker (lead guitar and vocals), Dominic Simper (guitar and synth), Jay Watson (synth and backing vocals), Julien Barbagallo (drums), and Cam Avery (bassist, formerly from Pond). Their music has been influenced by 60s and 70s psychedelic rock and shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine. The resulting sound includes lots of reverb, phasing and delay effects.
On 6 January 2015, Tame Impala announced a new album will be released in 2015. It is still unclear how the album will sound as Parker is very big on experimentation. This tour, which will be heading to Portugal and the UK after the US leg is done, may reveal songs that will on their upcoming album. So be sure to check them out while you can.
