The Mavericks @ The Fonda Theatre 3/25

The ongoing “Mono Mundo” tour by country garage band The Mavericks will touch down at The Fonda Theatre in March for one show, presented by Goldenvoice and the California State University Northridge-run station KCSN 88.5. The tour is in support of the group’s latest album MONO released this month. The tour will have The Mavericks playing in Europe, Canada and the U.S.

The Grammy-award winning band has been combining country, Latin and Rockabilly influences since they formed in 1989. They played in punk clubs on Miami Beach and took the Latin flavor with them when they left South Beach. Since they formed, The Mavericks experienced success in the 90s with RIAA-certified platinum records. The band split up after their 2004 tour ended and reunited in 2011, releasing In Time two years later, which peaked at number 8 on the US Billboard Top Country Albums.

The lineup features Lead Singer Raul Malo, Drummer Paul Deakin, Guitarist Eddie Perez, and piano, organ and Celeste by Jerry Dale McFadden. MONO also featured longtime backing musicians Michael Guerra (Accordion and Percussion), Max Abrams (Saxophones), Paul Armstrong (Trumpets) and Jay Weaver (Upright Bass and Tuba).
