Los Angeles-native Warpaint will be playing a benefit show titled “YAAAASS!” at the Fais Do-Do on Feb. 28 in support of Youth in Rock for John Marshall High School. The proceeds from the show will be used to provide students from grade 9 to 12 with a modern band curriculum. English, Stage Craft and Guitar Teacher at John Marshall High School Bretton Boyd started Youth in Rock with the mission of teaching students to function and thrive as performers and recording artists in the real world.
Guitarist and vocalist for Warpaint Theresa Wayman said, “Warpaint is excited to become more involved with our community. The world is a big place, with many people and the best way to participate and uplift the standard of living for us all is to start with those around us.” Those in attendance will hear songs from across all of Warpaint’s releases. In recent shows, the band has been playing songs from its 2007 debut EP Exquisite Corpse, the 2010 debut album The Fool and the band’s most recent 2014 album Warpaint.
The show will feature LA Witch, Midnight Rose (featuring members of Moon Man) in addition to DJ sets by Turbotito, Ned Learner and Anna Soffer of KXLU 88.9 FM. On top of all that, there will also be an art auction with works created by Warpaint and friends of Warpaint. This will be the last time to catch the band in the U.S. for this tour before they travel abroad.
