The Juliana Hatfield Three have reunited and released a new track called, “Wood.”
After 22 years, The Juliana Hatfield Three are releasing their second album, Whatever, My Love. The band has already released two songs, “If I Could,” “Ordinary Guy,” and now, the band has released, “Wood.”
Hatfield described the new song to Rolling Stone as the opposite of ‘I Wanna Sex You Up'” and that it is “about numbness and dissociation – feeling like a block of wood.”
Hatfield began her music career in Blake Babies, a band in which she was a vocalist and guitarist. After their break up, she went on to play in Lemonheads, who she played with on and off in the early 90s.
In 1991, Hatfield released her first solo record called Hey Babe, with the musicians who became The Juliana Hatfield Three. The band achieved stardom with the 1993 album Become What You Are.
In 2014 the band reunited and announced the release of Whatever, My Love, which was placed on Consequence of Sounds’ Most Anticipated Albums of 2015 list. The band also announced a tour in support of the new album, which they are currently on.
Hatfield stated in a press release about the new album,”We haven’t totally reinvented the wheel or anything with this new album.” She said the album features, “Stuff I am sort of known for, I guess. But I am a lot more confident now than I was then with the first album. And I had more fun recording this one.”
