Radio 104.5 is turning 8 years old! And they are putting together one heck of a party in celebration. Each year’s event gets bigger and better, and this year’s announcement did not disappoint. On Friday, January 30th, the station kicked things off with an announcement at 7am that Hozier would in fact be performing at the 8th Birthday Show. Each hour thereafter, they announced another act, until all 7 were finally revealed.
In addition to Hozier, attendees will have a chance to see Death Cab for Cutie, Passion Pit, Of Monsters and Men, Awolnation, Walk the Moon, and Vance Joy. Like past years, we may even see the addition of a local act to open the show, but that has yet to be confirmed. We also don’t have solid information about ticket prices just yet. What has been confirmed, though, is that the pre-sale for the Birthday Show goes live this Thursday at noon. You can get the access code on their website. And tickets officially go on sale to the public on Friday at noon. As with past years, they will be selling seated tickets as well as pit and lawn seats. The first half of the show is usually GA, but then they clear everyone out and begin with the assigned seating for the second half. Stay tuned to radio1045.com for all of the most up to date information.
This year’s 104.5 Birthday Show sees the return of many 104.5 favorites. Of the 7 acts, 4 have performed previously at free Radio 104.5 events. Walk the Moon, who have a sold out show at the TLA this April, were here in January supporting Radio 104.5’s Winter Jam. They also played a Winter Jam event a few years ago. Awolnation, Of Monsters and Men, and Vance Joy have all made stops at 104.5 Summer Block Parties, with Vance Joy on the lineup for the last Summer Block Party of 2014. And Passion Pit actually played the 6th Radio 104.5 Birthday Show, just two years ago. Clearly these are all acts that are much beloved by the Radio 104.5 community, and fans should be excited to get the chance to see them all performing on the same stage. In addition, we have acts like Death Cab for Cutie and Hozier (who has sold out both of his recent Philly shows, including the upcoming show in March). With the huge popularity of all of the acts on the lineup, and the amount of positive feedback this event has thus far received, it is a safe bet that tickets will go quickly. Don’t miss your chance to attend this year’s Birthday Show.
