The Dave Matthews Band is kicking off their North American Tour in Austin, Texas May 13. The Dave Matthews is an American Rock band that formed in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2991. The founding members were Dave Matthews (singer-songwriter/guitar), Stefan Lessard (bass), Carter Beauford (drums), and LeRoi Moore (sax). The bands 2009 album, Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, earing the band their fifth consecutive number one debut.
Their most recent album, Away From the World, was released in 2012 and debuted at number one on the billboard chart. This makes the Dave Matthews Band the only band to have six consecutive studio albums debut in the top spot. As of 2010, it was recorded that the Dave Matthews Band has sold over 30 million records worldwide.
The group is known for their annual summer-long tours of the United States and Europe, featuring lengthy improvisational renditions of their songs, accompanied by an elaborate light show.
